RCC offers an action-packed summer camp for school-age children (rising first graders through rising sixth graders) beginning promptly after Fairfax County public schools let out in June and running for approximately 11 weeks, until the start of the new school year. Summer camp activities begin daily at 9 am and run until roughly 4 pm. Camp enrollment also includes care before (beginning at 6:30 am) and after camp (until RCC closes at 6:30 pm). Hot lunches are provided by RCC’s kitchen, as well as breakfast and an afternoon snack.
Our summer camp is a fast-paced, fun environment. We take extreme pride in keeping the kids busy and entertained, although it’s the budding friendships and camaraderie among children that truly makes camp so special each year. Our experienced staff is energized by the influx of college students who join us for our summer season. Meanwhile, children bond with old friends, and aspire to graduate to the oldest groups, ultimately culminating in the coveted Group 5 and 6 annual sleepover. Other RCC summer classics include story book performance week, the official summer camp dance party, rock concert day, and of course, our annual indoor fort week!
Families enroll their children by the week, with each week featuring a big weekly event, multiple field trips, team-building activities, and ample time for creative free play with friends. The children are separated into six groups, each led by experienced counseling teams, and well below the NAEYC-required 15:1 child-staff ratio. We reserve Reston Association swimming pools for private use three days a week, in addition to offering numerous water-themed field trips and activities. Participating children are required to wear RCC summer camp shirts and bring tennis shoes each day.
